Getting the most out of these resourcesGetting the most out of these resources
The resources in the Gold dust website are taken from the LSIS Teaching and Learning Programme and were developed with teachers, teacher educators and national education organisations. Teachers and learners in the learning and skills sector piloted the activities and approaches and helped to create the resources. They are informed by and illustrate emerging practice and they have been selected by teacher educators to:
- address key themes in teaching and learning
- meet key components of many nationally recognised initial teacher education programmes
- support teachers in engaging in and providing evidence of their continuing professional development (CPD) and its impact
- stimulate reflection about teaching and learning which will foster team, whole organisation and whole sector approaches to this important area of work
- encourage critical analysis of teaching and learning approaches and showcase those which can be particularly effective in supporting learner achievement
- coach teachers in how to review their own progress and development, identify strengths and weaknesses in their approaches and plan for improvement of their practice
- exemplify innovative and learner-centred approaches to teaching and learning with ready made, high quality resources.
The resources can be further adapted, developed or contextualised to provide creative and innovative activities in your practice. No doubt, you, as teacher educators, will bring a wealth of creative ideas about how to get the most out of these resources and we hope that you find the process professionally stimulating.
The guidance and templates in this area can help you plan how you might:
- use or adapt the different types of resources
- evaluate the effectiveness of resources
- set up and maintain a record of resources used and evaluated
- use this website to support continuing professional development.
