Specialist personal and professional development

The Teaching and Learning Programme's resources promote a model of professional development which encourages teachers to:

  • reflect on their development needs and goals and to create and implement their professional development plan
  • take account of the dual professionalism in their planning
  • experiment with new ideas in their teaching, individually or in collaboration with colleagues
  • evaluate and measure the impact – on their learners, on their own practice and on their organisation
  • reflect on the impact of change on their practice – informally or through peer coaching
  • share, adapt and transfer effective practice.

If you teach are a teacher educator or if you coach and support colleagues, you can use these resources to plan and implement creative professional development programmes to meet particular needs.
