Evaluating planning

Teachers contribute to the review and evaluation processes in their organisations as part of quality assurance.  Understanding and using data is vital to reviewing and improving provision. The resources here, however, focus on qualitative review activities.  They offer:

  • examples of involving learners in planning and reviewing learning
  • examples of managing quality assurance across a collaborative partnership
  • guidance for evaluating the planning processes.

Evaluating the learner experience

Where quality assurance is well-managed, learners:

  • receive a learning programme of consistent high quality across all elements: information, advice and guidance (IAG) services, in the classroom, workshop, through remote learning, work placement and between providers
  • understand and use a progress recording system that is ‘joined up’ so that they can track their progress across different elements of their programmes
  • are actively engaged in the review of all aspects of the services provided and have a voice in shaping the provision.

The resources include a learner representative toolkit developed with learners.

Evaluating planning across partnerships

Learning providers are increasingly forming partnerships and alliances to improve choices for learners. A major challenge for managers and co-ordinators is to ensure quality and consistency of provision across organisations in their partnership as well as across different sections within their own organisation.

The resources in this section can help you to introduce aspects of planning learning that engage learners in the process, together with an effective example of a series of active learning sessions with industrial relevance.
